On September 16, 2016, Derek was honored at the Television Industry Advocacy Awards for his his involvement in two special causes: One Life at a Time and Sophie’s Place.
As Derek pointed out, One Life at a Time is a cause that his father Bruce is very invested in, so we were extremely happy to see Derek bringing his father, his inspiration, up to the podium. Kym and Robert Herjevec were also present at the event and they introduced Derek.
According to the Hollywood Times “The Television Industry Advocacy Awards benefiting The Creative Coalition hosted by TV Guide Magazine and TV Insider salute television industry leaders who use the power of their celebrity to advocate for social change. Honorees will be featured in a special section of TV Guide Magazine and its companion site, TVInsider.com, which will highlight their important philanthropic work.”
