Derek Hough honored at the Television Industry Advocacy Awards – September 16, 2016

On September 16, 2016, Derek was honored at the Television Industry Advocacy Awards for his his involvement in two special causes: One Life at a Time and Sophie’s Place.
As Derek pointed out, One Life at a Time is a cause that his father Bruce is very invested in, so we were extremely happy to see Derek bringing his father, his inspiration, up to the podium. Kym and Robert Herjevec were also present at the event and they introduced Derek.

According to the Hollywood Times “The Television Industry Advocacy Awards benefiting The Creative Coalition hosted by TV Guide Magazine and TV Insider salute television industry leaders who use the power of their celebrity to advocate for social change. Honorees will be featured in a special section of TV Guide Magazine and its companion site,, which will highlight their important philanthropic work.”

Few info about the two causes, in case you want to know more about them and/or you want to get involved in them.

Sophie’s place is a room that is used for music therapy in children’s hospitals. Back in 2013, Derek was present at the opening of “Sophie’s Place” at Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. On June 8, 2015, Derek and Julianne, were also present at the opening of Sophie’s Place at Banner Children’s Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. You can see more about these visits here.
