Theater

Derek as musician…

Derek was one of the founding members of the Ballas Hough Band where he shared lead vocals, played guitar and wrote many of the band’s album’s songs. The self-titled debut CD, that was released by Hollywood Records in March 2009, contains 12 songs and made its chart debut at #98 on the U.S. Billboard 200.

In 2009, the band performed on Dancing With the Stars their new single “Move“, a song that was intended to be the lead-off single to their second album. The single failed to chart and the members of the band decided to take separated ways.

Derek also co-wrote a song for “Make your move”, the feature film he had his first lead role. The title of the song is “Let me in“.

Derek as an author…

Derek wrote his first book Taking the Lead: Lessons from a Life in Motion that came out on August 5, 2014. The book managed to enter The New York Times Best Seller list.

Derek on tour…

Derek, along with Julianne, made their first tour during the summer of 2014. A second one followed the summer of 2015.
