Derek is getting involved with charity and philanthropy many times, especially charities that have to do with kids. This time around, he participated on the “Give” show of NBC as the special host of one of its episodes.
From the press release: “Give introduces viewers to the world of philanthropy through the stories of small charities making a big impact.” Derek’s episode aired on November 12, 2016, while the shootings took place on September 1 & September 3, 2016.
During each episode, one celebrity is visiting two non-profit organizations to see how they work and at the end of the episode, on behalf of the “Give Foundation”, they donate $50.000 in total between the two.
Derek visited Inner City Arts and Everybody Dance organizations in Los Angeles. At the end of the episode, he donated $25.000 dollars to each one of them.
Inner City Arts: The organization improves children’s chances to thrive by developing creativity, improving academic achievement & building self-confidence. You can find more about it on their official site.
Everybody Dance: Everybody Dance is inspired by the life of Gabriella Axelrad and is a non-profit dedicated to providing high-quality dance instruction to the underserved youth of Los Angeles. You can find more about this non-profit here.
